Qatar’s national airline Qatar Airways has commenced flights to Djibouti, continuing its goal to expand services in Africa
According to officials from Qatar Airways, the airline has begun flights thrice a week from Doha’s Hamad International Airport to the Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport in Djibouti City.
An Airbus A320, featuring eight seats in business class and up to 132 seats in economy, will fly the route between Doha and Djibouti.
Marwan Koleilat, chief commercial officer of Qatar Airways, said, “Qatar Airways is proud to be the first Middle-Eastern airline connecting Djibouti to popular business and leisure destinations across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. The airline is delighted to give businessmen and tourists who want to visit Djibouti and also the people of Djibouti additional choice and flexibility to travel.”
Koleilat said that Djibouti has several natural resources and tourist opportunities. The country, located in the horn of Africa, is renowned for scuba diving, snorkelling and its beaches.
