Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG) has revealed that it is enhancing its global fleet of heavy equipment with critical connectivity in key strategic locations, courtesy of Iridium Communications and its IoT services

Iridium Communications, a leading provider of global voice and data satellite communications, will deploy its cost-effective, plug-and-play satellite IoT terminal, Iridium Edge, for use by XCMG. This complements terrestrial-based solutions to create a reliably connectivity experience worldwide and simplify implementing Iridium IoT services on the XCMG fleet in Africa, Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and central Asia.

XCMG can rapidly deploy the terminals to their heavy equipment – starting with excavators and expanding to loaders and crane trucks as needed – in order to understand asset condition and performance and save on development costs as well as time to market.

"As a world class OEM, XCMG continues to demonstrate their forward-thinking approach and innovation in the heavy equipment industry," commented Matt Desch, CEO, Iridium. "By leveraging Iridium's truly global, weather-resilient satellite connectivity on their machinery, XCMG is enabling a better user experience with advanced, cutting-edge solutions to their customers worldwide."
