Fluor opens new Botswana office

Fluor has opened an office in Gaborone, Botswana in a bid to grow and diversify business activities across sub-Saharan Africa

Charles Siwawa, chief executive officer of the Botswana Chamber of Mines, was present at the opening alongside with other business leaders and officials.   

The global engineering and construction firm, which is headquartered in Irving Texas, offers solutions to clients for various sectors including power, industrial and mining.

“We are looking forward to strengthening our ability to serve clients, both existing and new, in this developing region as well as supporting Botswana’s goal to boost local business and employment diversification,” said Rick Koumouris, president of Fluor’s Mining and Metals Group.

Fluor’s first projects included the provision of technical services at the Orapa Diamond mine and the execution of Jwanaeng Cut 8 and Moruple Coal Mine expansion projects.

“The newly established office will allow Fluor to offer integrated solutions to clients in the mining and metals, energy and chemicals, power and infrastructure market sectors,” stated Andries Bester, Fluor’s country manager in Botswana.
