IT infrastructure specialist, Siemon, and data centre design specialist, Future-Tech, are to hold two seminars during November in Nairobi to discuss data centre design and efficiency

The seminars, which will be held at the Sankara Hotel on 27 and 28 November 2012, will explore a broad range of topics for data centres, from power and cooling to new technologies, to aid in the development of the East African region.

“Creating a sound data centre design is one of the most critical steps to assure long term goals for sustainability, flexibility and power savings," said Iyer Sivakumar, Siemon sales manager for Africa.

"We hope to share our knowledge and expertise, gained from working on data centre projects around the world, to support a better understanding of the essential subjects for all data centre professionals.”

Attending the event is free of charge through an application process, although places are limited to 50 per day.

“We will discuss the various considerations for data centre design and build projects, incorporating topics such as design work flow, compressor free cooling, power distribution, airflow management and layouts," explained James Wilman, sales and marketing manager of Future-Tech.

"These best practice principles ensure facilities operate correctly and are fit for purpose. Together with Alberto, we plan to talk about both existing infrastructure technology and integration and consider the future of 10Gb/s, 40Gb/s and ultimately 100Gb/s transmission.”

Other participants include industry professionals from data centres, infrastructure, networking and IT.
