Hitachi Energy welcomed industry leaders, experts and other stakeholders at Hitachi Energy Day Tanzania which accommodated a range of sessions that presented insights into the intersection of sustainability and digitalisation in the energy sector

“We are honoured to have hosted Hitachi Energy Day Tanzania. It signifies a pivotal moment of our commitment to driving innovation and sustainability,” remarked Malvin Naicker, managing director, Hitachi Energy sub-Saharan Africa. “It is important that we remain relevant and ahead of the discussion regarding digitalisation, sustainability, and the energy transition, addressing how we can support the evolution of the grid and offset fossil fuels with renewables."

Building on the success of previous events in South Africa, this year’s show was held at the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam. Highlights included a panel discussion on the importance of power quality with experts stressing the far-reaching consequences of outages, voltage dips, harmonics and other disturbances; exploratory sessions on how digitalisation is revolutionising the energy landscape with respective technologies enabling utilisties to optimize energy consumption, integrate renewables and enhance grid stability; and a focus on the peer-to-peer energy trading solution that empower local communities by enabling transparent and decentralised energy transactions.

The event was staged in order to shape the future of energy in Tanzania and beyond. Certainly this will be shaped by a development at the show in the form of the Hitachi Energy Tanzania inauguration. This was undertaken as part of the company’s expansion efforts on the continent and attendees were welcomed to witness the event.
