Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) has launched a unit in Swaziland in its bid to expand its business interests outside of South Africa

Richard Tomes, sales and marketing executive of PPC, said the company was looking at opportunities to expand in Africa before it could start investing internationally.

“We cannot rush to do business out of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region yet. Swaziland has limited choice in cement and companies do not have much competition and we are coming to give Swazi customers options when buying cement,” Tomes said.

PPC, which has also set up units in Zimbabwe and Bostwana, has produced cement for many South African construction projects, including the Union Building, University of South Africa (UNISA), Gariep Dam, Van Staden Bridge, FNB Stadium and Nelson Mandela Stadium.
