Pan Mixers South Africa (PMSA) offers more after securing exclusive national distribution rights to HTC floor grinding machinery

Pan Mixers South Africa (PMSA) recently obtained exclusive distribution rights to complete range of world-class concrete floor grinding machinery through its newly-established company, Galileo Trading (Pty) Ltd.
Galileo national sales manager, Andreas Hasselmose, points out that the company was established by PMSA in October 2010 to focus on distributing the internationally-recognised range of Swedish-manufactured HTC floor polishing and grinding machines across Southern Africa.
“Galileo was established by PMSA to fit with the philosophy of utilising a common customer base, and to enable customers to add more value to their product offerings. Galileo now stocks a range of grinding machines to meet the demands of any floor preparation application, ranging from DIY to large industrial projects. As the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of floor grinding equipment, HTC’s range of floor grinders covers everything from small domestic areas, to vast open areas measuring thousands of square meters,” he explains.
Hasselmose points out that that a total of 11 different HTC grinding machines are available locally through Galileo, which include:

  • HTC 400 DS/VS: ideally-suited for quick and effective removal of high spots
HTC 420 VS: a small, durable machine with a large capacity, capable of handling everything from floor preparation and grinding, to removal tough coatings like adhesive, screed and paint
HTC 500: a manually-operated grinder powered by a 4 kW motor, with a grinding pressure of up to 130 kg, the HTC 500 can be used for coarse grinding, preparation grinding and maintenance
HTC 650 E Classic: the model is fitted with a hub system, which makes the machine more reliable, and reduces the need of service and maintenance
HTC 650 HDX: popular for its versatility and easy handling, the HTC 650 HDX is a four-head grinder with a patented drive system that perfectly balances the machine and makes grinding perfectly-level
HTC 650 RX: this radio-controlled model minimises operator injuries from stress and vibrations, ultimately making supervision and service easier
HTC 800 Classic: fitted with an 11 kW motor and three grinding discs, this model is powerful and effective on large surface areas
HTC 800 HDX: fitted with a powerful 15 kW motor, this planetary grinder is ideal for high demands on cutting capacity, as it comes with 55 kg of additional integrated weights
HTC 950 RX: the radio-controlled model is ideal for grinding large areas, and built-in dust extractors ensure that work can be carried out more safely and efficiently
HTC 1500 ixT: this ride-on machine rotates 180° on the spot, and has a grinding width of around 1,4 m HTC 2500 iX: the world’s largest grinding machine consists of three grinding heads with 15 kW motors that grind up to 2,4 m in width.
Hasselmose notes that all HTC grinders are adapted for the unique EZchange system - technology that is exclusive to HTC. “The new patented EZchange system from HTC ensures that the risk of broken and rusty screws is completely eliminated. The system consists of wings for metal-bond and plastic-bond diamond tools that fit onto a metal holder, which can be used for every type of HTC tool in the EZchange system,” he explains.

The system consists of wings for metal-bond and plastic-bond diamond tools that fit onto a metal holder, which can be used for every type of HTC tool in the EZchange system,” he explains.

htc 950 rxThe process of the EZchange system begins when the user inserts the wing in the holder tracks, which prevents it from being ejected forwards or backwards, notes Hasselmose. “All it takes is a light tap with a rubber hammer in order to ensure that the tool is firmly in place, and the machine is ready for work in a matter of hassle-free minutes,” he continues.
Hasselmose points out that the fastest-growing floor type in South Africa is HTC Superfloor-Polished concrete. “HTC Superfloor is a complete concept for polishing concrete. The method mechanically refines the concrete surface by removing the top cement paste, and exposes the underlying stronger concrete,” he explains. “The existing concrete is then grinded and polished with HTC’s effective range of machinery and tools. The result is a floor with a completely flat surface, with high qualities, both functional and aesthetic.”
HTC Superfloor is ideal for industrial and public environments, and can be used in applications ranging from industrial and consumable storage, to shopping malls and educational facilities.
Hasselmose points out that the biggest challenge that Galileo will face in marketing the HTC brand, will be to educate the market on the benefits of the range, which is still relatively-unknown in Africa. He is; however, confident that the brand will succeed. “Our main goal is to educate the African market on the benefits of the HTC range, which is already known as an industry-leading brand in the western world. This can be achieved by providing demonstrations and full training to all clients interested in purchasing HTC grinding tools,” he explains.
Although Hasselmose admits that HTC’s market share in Africa is still in its infant stages, he believes that there is room for significant growth. “The HTC range of grinding machinery has the potential to penetrate new markets and gain significant market share in 2011, as it is a superior product being marketed at a very competitive price,” he continues. htc superfloor polished concrete 2
Hasselmose points out that the introduction of the HTC range of grinding tools gives Galileo an all-in-one solutions offering for concrete floor preparation, as the company already stocks the HTC Twister range of floor pads, which offer a green alternative to toxic chemical detergents when it comes to maintaining floor surfaces - by making use of grinding discs coated with microscopic diamonds.
“With more pressure being put on companies to adopt greener policies, the HTC Twister range is the perfect solution for maintaining floors. The products come in varying sizes, and are able to clean all floor types by using different grades of abrasion,” he continues.
The pads, which come in sizes ranging from 4-28 inches, can be fitted to any mechanical floor cleaner and used on a wide range of flooring – the most high profile to date in South Africa being the world-class Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
“The Twister range of products can give any dull and worn surface a clean, glossy and brightly-polished finish. It can be used on most common floor surfaces, such as terrazzo, ceramic tiles, linoleum, vinyl/plastic, natural stone and concrete. The Twister range can be used in a wide variety of applications, ranging from hospitals, to car dealerships and industrial warehousing,” he concludes.
